O’Leary Campaign Begins with a Bang
Candidate for State Representative Leah O’Leary formally announced her run for office last night before a full room at the Olde Colonial Café in Norwood. With over sixty friends, family members, and neighbors in attendance, Ms. O’Leary talked about her plans for the weeks until the September 19th Democratic primary and about her vision for the Norwood and Walpole communities she will represent. “We will be running a campaign based on shared values and a commitment to all our families,” Ms. O’Leary said. “When I am state representative for Norwood and Walpole I will be there to make the choices that help our families – not excuses about why nothing can get done.”
Ms. O’Leary and her family have lived in Norwood for generations, and she has been active within the community for many years. From her early work on the Town-wide Taskforce Against Hate and Violence, O’Leary has consistently sought to improve the lives of families and individuals in Norwood and Walpole. Her career as a social worker and adoption agent has allowed her to expand this work to families all over the Commonwealth. She is currently the executive director of A Red Thread Adoption Services, Inc., which is based in Norwood Center.
Ms. O’Leary told supporters last night that she is looking forward to the weeks ahead on the campaign trail and the opportunity to talk to those in her community. “We are going to talk with the voters in Norwood and Walpole about their concerns,” she said. “We will discuss issues head on, and we will invigorate the democratic process.” The room erupted in applause when O’Leary held up the small piece of paper officially confirming her place on the ballot. “There is a lot of work ahead of us,” she shouted to the crowd. “We are in this to win.”
